Doc`s Sauble River Inn in Free Soil

This is hands down the best place I've ever been for Perch! Their portions. In everything are huge and their prices are amazing! They're always friendly and quick at getting out your food. We live over and hour away and drive here about 3 times a month just to get the perch!!

A group of us road our motorcycles in and sat down. Waited and waited for service. We finally got our drinks (soda) after 15 min. It was just us an like 4 people sitting at the bar.Another 15 minutes go by and the bartender /waitress was just talking to the customers at the bar. We had to call her over, at this point we just paid for our drinks and left. We wanted to eat but didn't want to spends hours inside on a beautiful day.Thanks Doc, it's nice to see that that's not the norm. We will definitely stop by again and give your place a try. We a couple of people that were exited to get the smelt and disappointed when we ended up at McDonald's.

This place is seriously so good! From the outside it looks kind of like a small run down building. The inside is nice and fresh with unique decor. Staff is super friendly! And the food is absolutely amazing! All of it! I don't think they could make a single bad item! If you drive past this place and don't stop you will regret it!

I haven't had smelt that good since I caught them myself, and my wife had the walleye and it was great also. The waitress was very friendly.

All employees except owner wore masks. Food was delicious, as always. Most customers wore masks upon entering. Tables were spaced. They cleaned tables & backs of chairs. Food served in takeout containers but real forks. Excellent service!

We found this restaurant last summer - 2017- while looking for a Friday fish fry. We ended up taking two different couples to enjoy the fish dinner. We returned several Fridays over the summer. Portions are large and you can switch to all you can eat dinner if you think you need more. I have never had to do that! Love their fries too. Service is great and the owner has stopped to say hi on most nights. We feel like locals. Come early, it fills up quickly. Very popular place with reasonable prices.

I went with some friends while I was in town. It seems like it's popular with locals, but we were lucky to go when it was kind of quiet. It's a nice little pub. The food and service was good and the bar looked well stocked. I got a hamburger that was HUGE. My friends got some kind of fried fish and nachos that they really liked. Not really a health food kind of place but good American bar food. I would definitely visit again if I'm ever in the area again.

Doc's is great! There salad have popcorn on top. There Friday night fish fry is delicious. Great with a couple of beers and another couple for company.

What a pleasant surprise! Honestly the place looks like a dive when you first pull up. Gosh was I wrong, very well done modern and fun menu feature everything from classic bar favorites to fantastic steaks, gyros, fish tacos and more. In addition to a quality variety of craft beer. The establishment was very clean and comfortable. Service was fantastic too.

Had fish basket and food was very good. Restaurant was very busy so waited a while for our food. Luckily our group was 6 people so enjoyed visiting while waiting.

Great little store with all of the essentials that you would need for camping or a quick trip to the store. Worker was super polite and helpful. We make it a point to stop here during our trips to this area because it is nice to have that store there, otherwise it's 20 min to the next place.

Went for the fish fry and was not disappointed! I'm incredibly picky about fish, but their Friday night fish fry was on point. Not super greasy, didn't fall apart as you were trying to dip it or even pick it up on your fork. Good portions per serving and good sides as well.

Cool little out of the way place. Friendly staff and good quality, straightforward food with huge portions! You will not leave hungry! Prices are very reasonable!

Perch and Doc's Fish Fry we're fantastic. Ate here 2 days ago with my family (2 little ones - mini corn dogs, 2 teenagers chicken strips, and the above 2 meals) and the staff and owner were excellent. Decided that we needed to come back today on our way out of town. Thanks Doc and crew.

Very good food for reasonable prices and a good bar selection. Had the perch and baby potatoes. Love the breading on the fish and potatoes were seasoned very nicely. Also liked the broccoli slaw. Only thing missing was dessert which they do not serve.

Seated right away. Very casual atmosphere, half bar, half restaurant. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Went with Doc's Fish Fry which was catfish at the time. Tasty and moist pieces, AYCE. Will definitely be going back.

Home town, friendly atmosphere

Gotta love Doc's. The best all you can eat fish fry and with baby baker potatoes 🥔. Plus he special ordered two kinds of top shelf vodka and keeps them all the time for my Martini's. Plus his wife makes the best home made soup I have ever had at a restaurant!

Great food!! Relaxed atmosphere and staff

We stopped by today for lunch, my wife had the Philly Cheese Steak and I had the Smelt Basket. Both where delicious, I liked the size of the smelt ( a little on the smaller side which makes them taste better ) and they give you plenty. Thanks again for a great lunch!

Had the most excellent and hearty BLT sandwich platter. Lots of bacon and great fries!

A small restaurant with full bar. The specials are very large and every one liked them. Burgers are good. Deep fried pickles are awesome. They put popcorn on their salads. Staff was very professional and nice. Thank you Leanna!
